Day 1: 

9:00AM - Volksgarten, Vienna

Begin your exploration by immersing yourself in the lush greenery of Volksgarten. This public park offers a serene escape from the bustling city streets and is dotted with stunning monuments and sculptures.

The Volksgarten (People's Garden) is a public park in the southwest of Vienna's city centre. It is technically part of the Hofburg Palace complex and comprises several gardens (including a rose garden with over 3,000 bushes belonging to several hundred varieties), monuments and fountains.


10:00 AM - Vienna City Hall & Rathausplatz

Next, head to the iconic Vienna City Hall, a masterpiece of Gothic architecture. Admire its grandeur from the outside before strolling through Rathausplatz, the square in front of the City Hall, which hosts various events and markets throughout the year.

Vienna City Hall (Wiener Rathaus) is the seat of the city government. It was built in the 1870s in Neo-Gothic style and, with a tower topping out at 98m, held for a few years the title of world's tallest building. Incredibly, the building contains almost 3,000 rooms.

The Rathausplatz is the square in front of the City Hall and, on the opposite side, the Burgtheater. Every winter, the square holds one of the city's main Christmas markets.

2:00 PM - Capuchin Crypt (Kapuzinergruft)

Step into the eerie yet intriguing Capuchin Crypt, the final resting place of many members of the Habsburg dynasty. Marvel at the intricate tombs and learn about the fascinating stories behind Austria's ruling family.

The Capuchin Crypt (or Imperial Crypt) is a burial chamber that serves as the main place of entombment for the members of the House of Habsburg since 1633. It is located beneath the Capuchin church, in the historical center of Vienna, and contains the cremated remains of about 150 members of the dynasty, including 30 emperors and empresses.

Karlskirche (St. Charles Church) is a Baroque church built in the early 18th century in Vienna and dedicated to the sixteenth century counter-reformer Saint Charles Borromeo.  It was designed by architect J.B. Fischer von Erlach with a façade replicating a Greek temple portico combined with two columns inspired by Trajan's Column in Rome and a dome rising to a height of 70m

2:50 PM - Schönbrunn Palace Park

Schönbrunn Palace was the summer residence of the Habsburg rulers, in the outskirts of Vienna.

The surrounding park includes various gardens, sculptures and monuments such as the Gloriette which now houses a cafe crowning a hill along the garden axis, the Roman Ruin (a nostalgic legacy from the Romantic movement), various sculptures representing deities and virtues, a palm house and an orangerie garden (with pomegranates, olive trees and myrtles).

Architecturally, it stands out for its south tower with a spire reaching 136m, its Romanesque façade framed by two towers and its multicolour tiled roof.

The Graben is one of Vienna's most famous squares and is surrounded by various historical buildings such as and the Freisingerhof and Trattnerhof, the Ankerhaus, the baroque Palais Bartolotti-Partenfeld and the HQ of Erste Group Bank for several decades starting in the mid 19th century.
